Fully Integrated Batch Job Engine
Functional
Summary
Waypoint includes a complete Job Engine that allows for batch processing. The notion of a batch job engine is very general. It has in its
kernel security, auditing, logging, status monitoring, chunking, etc. As now built in Waypoint, its primary purposes are batching emails and creating
documents. Conceivably, there could also be other applications.
Case Studies
This dynamic document engine was originally built to allow in-line automation of one customer at a time processing. As examples, it
has built elective surgery information packets and revocable living trust packets as part of normal workflow processing. However, it
can also support batch processing of things like end-of-year statements, client and vendor surverys, etc. On the other hand, we've used
this same engine to batch email messaging for several years. With one client I developed over 40 reusable jobs to be run on a periodic basis.
Some addressed invoicing, payment reminders, attendance reminders, license compliance reminders, etc. It becomes possible to fold in a very
great deal of regular line workflow. It is faster, more accurate, and creates a log. What's not to like?
Advanced Functionalities
This module includes full logging, error handling, status
tracking and reusable component architecture. This system also optionally adds a task log record to each contact in the target list.
This engine has built into it support for both dynamic documents and emailing. Dynamic messages can be emailed or printed, saved or not.
The system allows for printer selection and a configuration screen that requires network server and account information for emailing.
The engine works both in batch mode as well as "one-off" mode, as needed. Printing can be conducted in chunks, to improve printer and
hard copy managability. The system also supports test mode and even allows a staff member to run a test, with an eamil sent to themself, but
nevertheless based on a target contact's fact pattern. This allows realistic content testing.
