Configuration and Administration

Functional Summary
Tucked away on a configuration sub-menu are nine things. Global parameters, 38 classification lookup tables, file and knowledge base glossaries, system command points available for security settings, users, permission and workflow roles, reusable promotions, dynamic document templates and workflow routing logic. The more effort made in these screens, the more customized the application can be made.

On another sub-menu are three utilities. Interfacing with QuickBooks comes bundled with Waypoint. In addition, we will later be releasing two data grooming utilities. "Merge" will combine two top level records when an accidental duplicate entry occurs. "Compact" will actually delete files and records marked for deletion for clients who need to release hard drive space as a short term measure so that they have time to plan the next inevitable server upgrade.

Case Studies
Here at Fast Answers we are thrilled to be able to push data over to QuickBooks from Waypoint. We don't have much need for workflow task logging, but just the transfer of contact, physical address and communication address data allows us to avoid double-entry errors and wasted time.

A past client that collects and re-publishes catalogs routinely needs to search for catalog vendors. Since many firms have long names, they find it very helpful to be able to search on aliases. Indeed they can even create short abbrieviations and search by those nicknames too.

Advanced Functionalities
We've added a number of more subtle system behaviors that save time and make the lives of users easier.

* Support different barcode scanners, label printers and page scanners for each user.
* Move an entire file repository to a new hardware server and only have to change one system parameter.
* Turn on and off file versioning. File access auditing. Content Type-based data access.
